The social history of the beret

The social history of the beret

You might have read a lot about this accessory lately because of actual trends. This article is not aimed to tell you how to wear the beret and how cool you can be if you wear one. Indeed, I wanted to write about it because this little object has had so many uses and symbolics through centuries.

‘In Between’

‘In Between’

Have you ever felt like you are in a moment of your life where it is barely possible to determine yourself?
A period where you are in the middle – you have to let your past go and accept your future while you are trying to handle your present. This situation is quite tricky to me, to be honest. You can’t hate it because you have to move on, but at the same time you can’t love it. It is like fighting two inner voices and let one disappear to focus only on the other. Inner dualism is playing a huge role in the all process of transition. Because after all… it is all about transition don’t you think? You have to rebuild your mind and your body to fade into your own path.

If you ever feel like that – maybe not yet – you will easily understand what this video is about. To express this transition period, the present video is mixing the decor with my actual mood translated into a look. The red thread represents my past including all my fears and insecurities. It is an element that is very present in the beginning of this video. However, even if it is hard to let things go, I had to resign and start thinking about my future. It could seem superficial, but I like to think about my Dorateymur shoes as the representation of my future. Before any judgement, I would like to explain why 🙂

See, I have to face a quite tricky dilemma lately. I had to choose between my career or my comfort zone. This latter can be very different according to people. For me, it was represented by a person and a place. Both were jeopardizing for my personal fulfillment. Because of time, I though that I could fix the problem and make everything work out. I was way too idealistic… Life can make you understand quickly that you have to make a choice. Making choices is living. At the end, I chose my personal fulfillment. I am still figuring out slowly what it really means. That’s why I though those shoes, shiny and cheeky, can be the representation of what I want: working on emerging and alternative fashion. Dorateymur is one of those designers that I could totally work with. His work on designing shoes is totally unique and I am deeply in love with his aesthetic.

So, by trying to associate my past and my future I failed. Now I have to give all I got into what I want. It doesn’t matter if I fail as long as I tried.
I am in between two worlds, the transition might be tough nevertheless I can’t give up now and neither should you.So, by trying to associate my past and my future I failed.

Typology of 3 trends in 2018

As we enter slowly in the year 2019 – so futuristic! – it is always easier to forget the past and focus on the future. But our future is intrinsically based on our past and so is the case for fashion. I like to see
